Exclamation A question for very experienced Photoshop users

Hi guys!

I'm working in a beauty saloon (offers everything for the looks so to speak) as a IT and Advertising manger. Now, as you understand I do alot of graphic designing - ads, web, posters etc.

I've recently watched a movie where a customer got her picture taken then on a computer screen different hair-dos were shown to her - used on her very picture.

My question is if it's possible to accomplish using Photoshop solely? I understand that a part of this would be a quick hair removal (on-pic) of a customer and then would different layers with hair-dos be used until that customer picks one most suitable.

I have worked with PSP since 5 years ago, starting out as a total novice but have progressed quickly (many thanks to great litterature out there) and do quite advanced retouching nowdays.

I'm wondering if you guys have any thoughts on making such things possible? We have the resources but not full knowledge about this subject.

Would appreciate any comments.

Re: A question for very experienced Photoshop user

sure it could, but you would need psd files of all those different hairstyles where as a simple program already has those files included in the program...

It sounds like you want to add different hair do effects to subjects. If you have the image of the hair, in a separate layer, it is easy to add in front of a subject in photoshop. If not, you will need to make a mask for the hair that you want to use, and copy it to its own layer. But yes, you can do this.

Yes then it was as I thought. I'll need files with hair-styles (quite a library!) and I appreciate your comments.

I think it could be done only in a fun way. Loosen up the ladies with laughter, I always say. Well, and a martini, too.

I'm reminded of a woman that used Painter at shows about 8 -10 years ago, and would do instant caricatures of people (like the guys on sidewalks on some big cities). She would take a digital pic and go to work with a library of parts on her drive. It was fun, and got people buzzing. Try something like that, but create low expectations of the final reality, if you know what I mean.
