I'm currently retouching, in-house for an international (but UK based) magazine publishers. I'm approaching 7ish years in the industry now. I feel now that going freelance is perhaps the wise next step or a huge mistake!
I've always working for mag or book publishers. Is there work in the UK for retouching for this kind of client, or is advertising the market to aim at? do I need to be in London to get enough work? Also, how do I make those important contacts to get me the work? As I've always worked in-house, there are issues with me displaying my folio publicly. Ideally I need to show my folio in person but will people actually see a perspective freelancer?
Perhaps I'm asking too many questions here..... I just have no idea were to start as a freelance.
Any advice and tips is gratefully appreciated!
Re: Going Freelance....
My experience says that some people really enjoy going freelance and others that just don't get enough to live. I have realized that nothing is better ot worst but oneself.
