Retouching and high school diploma

Hello,

I was wondering how important is a high school diploma when applying for a retouching position, and if a Photoshop Certified Expert Certification would aid in kind of "patching up" the gap. (I do know that some companies test the applicants)

Yes, but I mean, do they generally care about prerequisites that much or will they just test you like that?

Re: Retouching and high school diploma

If you present yourself well, the diploma shouldn't be a problem. I don't believe there's any possible chance of getting a position without testing, and you should look at a test at any point of the process as an opportunity, not an obstacle.
Any certifications, listed experience, recommendations, etc. will look good on your resume, and hopefully will help get you an interview.
After you get the job, get your diploma! Good Luck.

If you have an impressive portfolio, you don't need a diploma.

Re: Retouching and high school diploma

I think with any employment position, having a high school diploma or any level of college degree implies that you can follow through with something. Fulfilling a commitment, if you will.
If you are very young, then not having one will be a hinderance getting any job.
If you're older and have some work experience, it probably won't come up.
