New Retoucher starting in DC area

Hello everyone,

I'm not new to the photography/media industry in general but I am going to be starting my own business on the side soon with retouching and restoration work in the DC area (also a new city for me).

I know prices and everything vary from city to city, but does anyone know the going rate for contracting out work in Washington, DC/Baltimore/VA/MD areas?

Basically I'll be willing to do anything from processing shoots in Lightroom to higher-end compositions, retouching work and restorations. It's something I'm good at and what I have always wanted to do on my own.

I also wanted to get some advice for the marketing side of things. Any advice on getting your name out in the communities? I'm trying not to go overboard with the expense of mailers, but I was thinking of doing a door-to-door type deal where I leave some of my pamphlets or the like.

Any suggestions??
