I will be contacting some old clients again to design wedding albums. I think I was underselling myself charging $200.00 a book. What is the going price range these days? I didn't ask for more in the past, because I was afraid I would loose the job. I'm not looking to get rich, just get a fair price. I'm so clueless about that part of the business. Thank you.

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al Charging a fixed rate for the entire album is not ideal since some albums have 50+ pages. I've done this briefly a few years back. I charged $15 per page design. A pano design would double that. An average album design for me was around $500. It helps to know the pricing packages the photographer/studio offers so you can set the price accordingly. If the photographer/studio charges at least $10,000 per wedding, you can probably ask for more.

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al People Constantly ask these questions, how much for touch-ups,how much for restorations etc,etc These are Almost impossible to answer WHY? Because There are so many variables,Like where you live, your skills level, quality of materials your using these 3 things make all the difference in the world If you live in an area with a depressed economy or low income chances of getting big bucks are slim.Or maybe your client came to you because your just starting out,so they think you will do it cheaper I find a lot of people on here just do not seem to want to know the business end of things.I mean is it possible to make money?and if so what kind good, decent or just as an added supplement Just my Opinion Zganie

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al Thank you everyone for getting back to me on this. I work in the New York area and my client really loved my designs. I would put a lot of time and care into each page. It wasn't the kind of down and dirty cookie cutter stuff, that you might outsource overseas. When my wife was sick and passed away, I had to put it aside for a couple of years. I'm just looking to make a living for me and my daughter. I know how much to charge for the retouching, but I wasn't sure about the wedding album stuff.

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al Just charge as much as your client can pay. I think that fair price is somewhere in range of 10 - 1 000 000 dollars.

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al A good rule of thumb when dealing with clients is: The less you charge, the more they want-!

Re: What's a fair price for designing a wedding al After making three wedding books, I totally understand why photographers charge so much...IT TAKES ALOT OF TIME. Think about it...you have to retouch the photos, think thought the layout...do the layout...proof...then place the order...and if you screw one little item you may have to do it all over again at your cost. Definitely record the time you spend on this album and when all is said and done you can figure out what you are making per hour. One last thing..1)make darn sure the customer proofs the book prior to ordering and 2) get at least 50% of what you are charging before you place the order...good luck...I'd like you to post some of your work once you have it.
