Full Time Course / Apprenticeship Hi All, I was wondering if any one had any suggestions : ) I'm currently on a three year career break and I'm hoping within this time frame to change careers if possible and do something I'm passionate about. Does anyone know of a fulltime ( Decent ) course in digital restoration/re-touching/manipulation etc etc. I have searched the internet but have come up empty handed. My other idea was to try and find someone who would be willing to take me on as an apprentice for a year or more. I get a small salary from work so I would be willing to work for a very small wage or just have my accomadation or something covered. I'm Irish , currently living in Spain but I have a visa to work in Canada starting in Jan 2011. I don't mind where in the world I'd have to go , if it meant I was able to fullfill my dream If anyone has any advice, suggestions, ideas I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Re: Full Time Course / Apprenticeship I could teach you here in Canada. I have been retouching in London since 1973. Moved to Canada last year. I have a large client base here, USA and the UK. But I am not cheap. What sort of visa do you have? Depending on what it is, I may be able to point you in other directions. jeff

Re: Full Time Course / Apprenticeship Hi Jeff, Thanks for replying. I had a look at your website and loved your work. I have a Working Holiday Visa for Canada starting in January 2011 and its valid for one year. I'm allowed work anywhere within Canada. You mentioned that you may be able to teach me. Could you please pm me with some more details if you get a chance and any other help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again Jess

Re: Full Time Course / Apprenticeship Wow those visas were stopped a couple of years ago. They have re introduced them? Are you a student, or have you just finished college? That is good to know. Get in contact nearer the time, I will see what classes I am running then. Jeff

Re: Full Time Course / Apprenticeship Apologies, I haven't had access to the internet for several months so a belated Thank you to the both of you for replying to my post. TwoPoint - Thanks for the link but unfortunately I don't have the kind of experience they are looking for as I'm only ( hoping to ) start studying/working in this area. : ) Jeff - The WHV for Canada ( from Ireland ) were only introduced recently as far as I'm aware . There are two types : The Student WHV or the Under 35's WHV ( which is the one I have ) . My flights etc are booked so all going according to plan I should land in Vancouver on the 18th of Jan. I still really want to study/work in this area so I'm definitely interested in hearing about the courses you give. If you could send me some info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks : )

Re: Full Time Course / Apprenticeship Well, it all changed here the last 2 months.... Finally the big names here in Canada / UK / / Paris have started using me for most of their retouching. So I was working the whle of December, I am working the whole of January, not sure about Feb. Let me know when you are going to be on the East coast. I knew about the student WHV... Best of luck with it all... My courses are simple. I do not teach you about photoshop. I teach you how to retouch properly, and in a succsesful manner! I am very very busy at the moment. I get $150 an hour here in Toronto and in the USA for my retouching. I get more for the UK. I do not blur or smudge, I retouch the way I have since 1972.... Just using digital now rather than brushes, dyes and bleaches! But I still airbrush the traditional way.
