Re: online job chances Hi. Are you trying or are you a specialzied and experienced retoucher? If you are a beginner this could be more difficult. Experience and a lot of processed files, jobs etc could be a strong support for your aspirations. Built an attractive portfolio could also help a lot. You'll need it for presentations when you'll be looking for jobs. The web is a "tough" place, it's not so easy to find employers or private clients. Offering low prices is not the way you'll find clients. If I'd be you, I'd try first the local market. Print some good, interesting samples "before-after" and visit the local frontstores, photo studios, malls, every place where people is bringing their photos to be copied, processed etc. Offer a fair price to the photo studio owner for a continous photo retouch service. You should visit him twice a week at least. He'll offer the service to the clients, he'll give you the scanned pictures, you'll do the job and both will win some good money. Give him a present of 2-3 of these samples to expose them on his store walls. This is really what you need, you need the clients observing your before-after work. The exibition is always selling. Do not underestimate your work, offer a fair price but not too low. Do not underestimate yourself. This jobs could mean for you more money than the web. You'll see I'm right, I know this from my own experience. Regards

Re: online job chances Usually what I saw that good photographers are not good retouchers they always need brilliant ideas and sophistication to improve their outputs I am basically doing printing having frontier epson 9800 and chromira and we do many retouching jobs as well and mostly my clients are professional photographers a retoucher can take their work beyond their imaginations and if you are capable of this then you can win good money. I have done some online jobs in past too but what i found that you can not meet the online customers demands like you have given him a reasonable rate for a retouching but he is giving you those kind of images which are burning your time and when you finalized your job and send him back his prints he must have many objections. and if you have that kind of customer who sit beside you and you just passed one or two images according to his will then you can easily finalize all jobs and save good time also. no doubt that online customers pay well but if you are a creative person you dont need to go anywhere they will come after you... thats my conclusion

Re: online job chances DMax, "no doubt that online customers pay well but if you are a creative person you dont need to go anywhere they will come after you... thats my conclusion"... I have my doubts about this. It also depends of the kind of retouch you are doing, beauty-fashion, vintage, batch jobs as weddings or some events where there are taken hundreds of shots etc. Maybe this could work if someone is alrealdy so known in the market, if he has a name into the business etc. .... "no doubt that online customers pay well"... just see most of the freelancers sites and I think you'll change this idea. As I said about "they will come after you", this applies for certain category, certain level you must have which means some good years and fame in the brand but for a beginner? Hopefully this could be true
