They can expect exactly the same as in any other creative path they chose to take.

If you're not good, not willing to work your arse off, for the right people, in the right time.

You won't make it

If you're not willing to over come your own ego, and take in criticism, learn from it, and improve.

You won't make it.

If you don't understand the rules of the business, play with the cards you get and try to get the most of it.

You won't make it.

If you focus on the bad side of the industry, stick to the low end clients, work on crappy projects you don't enjoy just to make money.

You won't make it.

If you don't trust people

You won't make it

If you try to be everything at once, sell yourself short or too big, if you're not honest about your capabilities (time or quality wise)

You won't make it

There's a blue print for any industry. Follow it, practice, network, practice, see how other people did it, practice, be a good person, practice some more, do what you love, love what you do (but too much).

You can make it.
