How to get started??

I am looking for some inspiration and guidance. I have been in the printing
industry for 32 years. I started on the light table has an offset stripper then to
CEPS systems on a Scitex Assembler workstation. We performed digital retouch on the Scitex Retouch and Blaze. We all know what came next, the Apple computer, Pagemaker Photoshop, Quark etc...

Through the years we were responsible for all color corrections, retouching cloning and merging. We worked with jewelry, watches, clothing furniture and architecture and simple flesh work, no heavy cosmetic work. I have recently thought that possibly I could get some freelance work. Starting off slow, look for maybe color correction and minor retouching. I would have to hone my skills along the way, I can get plenty of images to work on and refine techniques and with tips of this site.

How likely is this and how to best proceed?
