Is there a going rate for retouching on line?

I've been a retoucher, Illustrator since 1976. I have a business serving local clients on Long Island and New York. I just started a web page and want to expand my business. Some possible new clients ask me, "What do you charge per photo"?. I am used to charging my old clients by the hour. Retouching on each photo can be so different, so I'm happy to give estimates on new jobs. My question is this. Is there a standard rate per photo in some cases? I'm a good retoucher, but I'm new to working on the internet. I don't want to chase away a good new client. Also, is paypal a good way to get paid on line? What should I do?

Paypal? No... Makes you look cheap, and unprofessional.

Depends on who the client is and usage... So could be $50 an hour, could be $300 an hour. Or anywhere in between.

Unless you are a "sweat shop smudger" then it is $5 an image! LOL!

Is setting up for credit cards difficult? Your samples are top flight stuff. You have to be an artist away from the computer. I wanted to ask if you could look at the work samples on my web site and suggest who I should contact for work. Most of my clients these days are portrait photographers, but I do some commercial stuff. Are you in Toronto?
