Business Card as a retoucher

Hi,

I've got to get some new business cards printed, to advertise myself as a retoucher & digital assistant. Target group would be photographers, agencies & photographic studios.

Big question now is: Postcard or business card? Should I keep it "text only", with contact details & website address? Or should I add a retouched image onto the back of the card?

I guess a "before/after" image might be too much for the small size of a business card – but maybe a nice example of good colour grading, maybe on a close-up beauty shot (lips or eyes)?

What do you guys do for business cards?

Moo looks cool. I like the idea of the mini cards. I say get cards that will fit in a wallet, if you're handing them directly to a person. If mailing, then do post card size.

Re: Business Card as a retoucher

I would advise business cards over post cards. While post cards can fit a larger, more detailed image of your work and more information about your business, they are generally too large for most busy professionals to hang onto. They will probably be thrown out shortly after you've given them out. Business cards are conveniently sized and can be placed in the pocket or wallet or business card holder and be shared around.

I would also recommend including an image of your work, as you suggested a close up would be more ideal esp for business card size. This way potential clients can see the quality of your work without having to visit your site to research you, if your image gives them a positive first impression they are more likely to check out your site, if you just include your info, you may be lost in a sea of other retouchers and quickly forgotten.

I have used the Moo mini cards before, with a close-up of a variety of retouched images being the entire front of the card. On the back, i had my contact info. Pretty great little cards!
