Freelancers and getting work to clients

For those of you that use some sort of online solution to get work to and from your clients, what do you use?

I currently have my box set up as an FTP server, but some clients have a hard time connecting. So I am curious what other people do, any ideas or suggestions?

Usually, web clients email me their photos. When I've finished, I upload to my site and provide them with a "link" where they can download the image. I've also downloaded and uploaded to client's FTP site (usually commercial client's).

Ok, well email won't work because im dealing with 30-75mb files...so ftp seems best for now but as i said some people aren't apt enough at figuring out how to use ftp (even through IE).

So I am just curious if there are any good online storage sites that allow for client logins, or some sort of way to set up a web server on my winbox, with client login or something like that.

ideas?

I wouldn't advise setting up a webserver on your PC unless you really know what you're doing and you have the bandwidth to handle the traffic.

If you insist on turning your PC into a webserver, however, there are many solutions available to allow users to upload to your machine. If you go this route let me know and I'll suggest a few of these solutions to you.

Alternative means to get photos to you:

-Peer to Peer program like Kaaza, Morpheus, Bearshare . . .
-Instant messenger program like ICQ, MSN, Yahoo . . .
-Do a search on the search engines with terms like "free image hosting", "free web space", etc . . . There are lots of 'em out there.

Ok, here is where i am at...its complicated but I will try and explain it as best as possible. I have installed apache on my winbox..its set up and running fine...I have found a program called net2ftp, the idea is that it allows people to connect using simple http and php..basically a log in page for clients, but instead of it using FTP it is HTTP, so therefore it easily bypasses any firewall problems. However, it requires php to be installed on the webserver, which I do, however I cannot get this to work.

So, I am open to your solutions.....

Do you have a static IP address or plan to use some sort of dynamic IP updater?

Its a static ip...never had any problems with my ftp while using a static
