| | | Free site provider Chrishoggy referred me to awardspace.com some time ago (thanx again Chris) but their databases have been down for some months and there is no lead time as to when they will be back up. I can't afford to pay for a service (at the moment) so am looking for a decent provider as I am looking to update my site but most decent gallery scripts need MySql database. Can anyone help please? |

What is the problem at AwardSpace?
I just checked my account and it’s OK. So I clicked your link http://ziaphra.awardspace.com/
It’s all there and seems to be working
Their Database update was in November. Is there still something wrong?

| | | Re: Free site provider My current site doesn't use the database as I use jalbum and now I want my site to look more professional so I want to update to a script that does need a database and db1 is still down with no lead time whatsoever and I am not getting any responses to my thread in the forums except for the fact that they keep pointing me to the thread that states that they are down. They even went so far as to delete 2 of my threads asking what was going on and also modified my last thread asking them to stop deleting my threads. But that's another rant altogether!
Sorry...what a ramble! |

| | | Re: Free site provider Avoid heart internet, they spam you for ever once you activate an account. I tried them about 3 years ago, and still get spam to this day. You also only get 100MB bandwidth, and that is nothing in real terms. Plus you also need a domain to transfer to their hosting. I came away from awardspace, because of their database issues. I put it down to being a new host at first, but it seems to have become worse, not better. Shame really, as they had a good thing going that shot up the hosting ranks when they started. If I do come across a stable host with databases, I will let you know. If you have a few £ to spend, I can recommend UKhost4U for paid hosting. They have a cracking deal for only £3.99 (£4.69 pcm inc VAT) , and I've never had an issue that hasn't been fixed within an hour. My sites and DB's have only gone down once in all the time I have been with them. That was due to a hardware fail, and my site was restored and moved to the new hardware within the hour. http://www.ukhost4u.com/
Their user forum is also VERY good for new users/newbies to web hosting http://www.ukhost4u.com/forum/index.php |

| | | Re: Free site provider as long as the 10mb file size limit isnt going to be a problem......
I gave up on free hosts last year. There is plenty of affordable hosting services out there.....check canaca.com, eleven2.com, and asmallorange.com I have used all of these before and they are great, great hosts.
If you absolutely cannot pay for hosting, byethost.com, qualisar.com, doteasy.com.....the only catch with doteasy is that you need to register a domain through them......the other two provide subdomains.
good luck |

It’s a shame about Award Space. They seemed OK.
Here is a list of the top 100 Free Providers http://www.free-webhosts.com/webhosting-01.php
Award Space is still at No.4.
There are reviews on all the Providers.

I've heard some good reports about this web space
Its free and no Ads, They give you 100 megs. I have not tried it myself so I don't know if it is what you need. https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...mpl=yessignups

| | | Re: Free site provider Thanx Ken. I have already registered with 110mb.com and so far they seem to offer what awardspace did and more. Plus if you ask for certain things they actually seem to take the ideas on board and see what they can do...and, not one bit of spam!
