Website images look crunchy

Hey
Making a website, just seen the images on a mac with a gloss screen and they seem really crunchy in the jpeg compression. They print smoothly and look fine on my screen, is there a way to make jpegs and rid myself of this problem without adding grain?
Cheers

Hi there,

what kind of software do you use to create this slideshow? You should not compress your image before you will import it there ... Some pictures like this one will always have this kind of problems

I've changed the image slightly and made the background white. Do you feel this looks better?

The first image from the link above (cat) looks fine but the others still have noise.

I think the reason why it looks like this is the Flash application. If you would use ordinary jpg with sRGB color profile and no compression it would look better. I do not like Flash

I use php slideshow instead of Flash. It works faster and works everywhere.

Thought it might be best to change some of them around. Do you mind me asking what monitor and browser you're looking at them on?

no I hate this screen ...

Could you send a link to a jpg file only? Just place it somewhere within your directory and I will tell you if it looks better.

Re: Website images look crunchy

www.garethpritchard.co.uk is your root (main) directory - if your image has name 1.jpg the link will be www.garethpritchard.co.uk/1.jpg
