fashion and commercial retouching

Hi there,

I am currently working on my website, and beside the fact that now nothing seems good enough to be posted , I feel like the website is not what it should be, somehow. The site is in progress but I would really appreciate any feedback on it.

www.mariusburlan.com

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: fashion and commercial retouching

Marius,
Let me be the first...
All I can say is...great job.
I specially love the "curtaineffect" on the before and after.
On my Mac, some items won't open...but that could be individual.(About and video)
Somehow the linepattern in the background distractes me a, it's a bit dull imho and doesn't reflect the high quality of your work.
Also I would keep all items in the same size.
Just my 2 cents...
Rich

Re: fashion and commercial retouching

Hi Rich,

thank you very much for taking the time to review my website. The pages you mentioned don't open is because they are not done just yet. What did you exactly mean by "dull imho"? Sorry, English is my second language and I don't know this term "imho". Also, by "keeping items in the same size" are you referring to the thumbs on the grid front page, or the way that images actually open?

Thanks again for you review. I do really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Marius

English is also not my native language so no apologies needed... Ok, so not fully operational, now I understand.
Imho means in my honest opinion, dull is as it is...missing tension, a spark, as your work is of high quality.
Yes, on the grid frontpage I would suggest keeping all the same size....just personal taste it is

Re: fashion and commercial retouching

Thanks a lot for your toughs Rich. Really appreciate it. I already took away the pattern from the background . Regarding the thumbnails, they have the same width and proportional height. Imho (did I get it right? this way gives a bit of a dynamic feel to the page.

Is it loading decent? I ran couple of test and seems that is not the fastest website ever but given the files size is ok.

Thanks again and best of luck to you.

Cheers,
Marius

You're welcome....
Looks better without the pattern, you are right regarding the dynamic feel, it is.
Loading is ok here....besides the unfinished pages..
Amazing work, compliments.
Cheers

Re: fashion and commercial retouching

Looks plausible enough Marius although I would show before and after on every image so that the viewer can evaluate your input. The 'kid/cat' image reflections are not good and the hilite on the cat next to the shadow on the wall jars with me. It puts a doubt in my mind that wouldn't be there otherwise so you may want to fix it or remove it. Otherwise, lots of nice things to look at.

Re: fashion and commercial retouching

Hi Repairman,

first, I would like to thank you for taking the time and visiting my site. Regarding the before and after, believe me I would love to show them, but because they are published in 2 life-style magazines here, in Canada, it won't look professional if I will showcase the images. With regards the cat layout, I now, see for sure what you are saying and agree with you. Unfortunately I don't have the working file of this, being a 5 years old project. Very good observation though...very keen eye I have to admit.

Thanks a lot for your review,
Marius

Only 2 critiques out of almost 200 views... Hmmm, is that good?!?
