This was my first attempt at a watercolor rendition. I took the shot of the flower with my Kodak DX 6490 in macro mode. In Photoshop, increased saturation, adjusted curves, and ran the watercolor filter three times. On two of the times I used the filter, I used a layer mask to hide the main flower in order to keep it a little sharper than the background.

Nicely done, especially for a first attempt. This would make a great notecard! If you have a printer, you can buy some notecard/greeting card paper and print them out to send to friends and family. For fun, try rotating your flower so that the branch runs roughly from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. Then crop your image and use the clone tool to fill in any spaces. A diagonal line in a photo tends to make it more dynamic.
