Old ripped photo of my mother. Used clone tool, smudge, removed red color cast, whitened teeth and eyes, added eyelashes, added a bit of makeup, removed scanner backround.. I hate the way the hair turned out, I'll give it another shot when I feel like it.

I think so far so good ! The harsh contrast between her hair and the background should be an easy fix. I hope you continue to work on it and post your results.
