RetouchPRO LIVE with Jim Lawson
"Jewelry Lighting" - 10/08/11
A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, 1976, Jim Lawson has built a successful career in art and advertising photography over the last 30 years, working primarily in the Chicago and Cleveland areas. Since 2006, when he moved to West Chester, PA, Jim's commercial work has been primarily focused on producing a series of cover art for Jewelry Artist/Lapidary Journal, Step by Step, Bead & Wire, and Colored Stone magazines.

Jim Lawson considers himself more a jewelry photographer than a retoucher, but Photoshop's masking and layers are an essential part of his striking cover photos. Jim photographs jewelry with several different lightings, then combines the best of each to highlight the unique beauty of the handcrafted pieces he's made his specialty.

Watch live via your browser as Jim shows you how he lit and photographed these beautiful mokume rings. Then he'll move to Photoshop and combine the best of each exposure and complete the retouching for this magazine cover.

As is always the case with RetouchPRO LIVE shows, Jim will answer audience questions as he works.

User comments about RetouchPRO LIVE:
"It really felt like a private 2-hour class where you get to ask specific questions which you wouldn't get a chance to otherwise."
"The quality of streaming was great, no problems at all, and I could see a difference in colour when adjusted by 1%."
"This was without a doubt a stroke of genius to plan, put together, and execute a class like this. It is nearly perfect for those of us who have a tough time physically as well as financially traveling to other locations for classes."
" thing for Photoshop and fotogs on the web. Period."
