Painting Satin

This morning, I wanted to explore painting satin for future projects. A test on me, if you will. I used PSP7 and a layer over original image method. My subject, who you won't see much of is another of my Fantasy Girls, Gretchen Mol.

I started by sketching and then painting in fairly broad strokes, the various planes of the gown. After doing that, I duped the layer for blending. Three layers now.

I used a gauss blur of 3 on the top layer, then started smudging the other one. After getting the look right, I adjusted them, not using the blurred layer at 100% but at 55% (arbitrary) I hope this can help someone somewhere.
