by Doug NelsonI know, some times it feels like no one is listening. This early in the blogging game, you might even be right. The search engines only found these blogs a few days ago, and it will take awhile to be indexed, ranked, etc.
In addition, unlike the forums, there is currently no way of measuring...-

by Doug NelsonBlogs are not like forums or email lists or chatrooms. People do not look for blog hosts and then browse merrily though the myriad posts. They find, through various means, one blog, decide if they like it, and then either bookmark it or subscribe to its RSS feed.
So what are these "various...-

by Doug NelsonYou might be a brilliant, insightful writer, but if someone visits one of your blog posts and sees you rarely post, they aren't going to bookmark or subscribe, no matter how much they enjoyed the single post.
The only reason they'll bookmark or subscribe is if they want to be sure they...-

yeah, but what's it do, the akismet thing? is that something that would disable unregistered from posting or just keep folks from multiple, duplicate postings or what?
yeah, i'm just trying to get oriented and understand how this works. helps a bit to compare it to the forums. it's certainly not the same thing, though. do i have to edit the main post to append other things besides comments? that's the first difference i see between this and threads. or does it just expect that every time i want to say something new to start a new 'post to my blog' entry?
You can see a more populated version of the blog software here.
seems that this is more like a journal than a forum. there is no real way to append to the original entry except through comments or going back and editing the original. that's going to take some getting used to.
then again, each new original is appended to you, your user name, so i suppose that's a difference from the forums also.
ok, starting to get the hang of this.
