    Collecting Vintage Photos
    by CCdesktop
I want to begin to collect an inventory of photos from different time periods - like WWII, or the depression.

Does anyone know of or use any collectibles sites that offer photos that are not too expensive?

I'd appreciate any tips you can offer.

looking for advise on historic WWII photos

I have photos taken by my Father in Japan '45 and '46. After seeing the cost of having them restored, I decided to learn how to do it myself. I work in photoshop cs, and have been at it a bit more than a year. What are my chances of making a REAL QUALITY restoration of photos such as this? I'm new...

    Photos in Archives
    by P0k3Y
Is there any way to view the photos in the archives by groups? Like Old photos, Photos that need sharpening, etc, It's really hard to go through the archives for images when they are just thrown in there...maybe someone is going to re-org all the images?

    Stock photos

Just curious what are you favorite resources for stock photos you use in compositing? I am mainly interested in photos for non-commercial use, so the choice is a bit broader.

  • Can I sell photos of other peoples houses?

I'm new to all this so bear with me if it's been discussed before. I have some shots of old Victorian houses that I have taken from the public right of way. I was thinking of printing up a few, framing them and try to sell them in a local consignment art store.

The photos have been modified somewhat to look more like paintings than photos. Some have been submitted to Google Earth and have been accepted.

So my question is (1) can I sell copies of these photos and (2) am I improperly submitting photos of someone else's property to Google Earth?

I am not a lawyer, but from what I understand, any picture taken from a public space is fair game as long as it is not a classified military base etc. With that said, I also read recently that the British Govt Agency in charge of Stonehenge was trying to make a case that they owned all images ever taken of stonehenge..

I am not an attorney so I can't give legal advice. Check out attorney Carolyn Wright at for legal advice and look at attorney Bert Krages post at My understanding is he also provides legal advice. Bert and Carolyn have written books that have legal advice on the subject. I thought I would give referrals but since I am not an attorney this shouldn't be construed as legal advice.
