  • Time Management Question

    Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the freelancing world, and trying to force myself to place realistic deadlines, after working in-house for a studio with unrealistic deadlines in my opinion. It gets me very confused! So I am going to pose a question for you and compare my initial instinct of a deadline with yours.

How long would you think it would take for a retoucher to retouch 30 shots (hair only, no skin or anything else!) for a hair care ad to perfection. Two models with straight hair, one with curly. The hair is relatively tame, but there still is a good bit of work needed with cleaning up strays and dodging and burning, also patching spots from other rejected photos to reshape the hair. Let's just assume you have no other work during this time.

Thanks for the help. I'm new to the freelancing world, and trying to force myself to place realistic deadlines, after working in-house for a studio with unrealistic deadlines in my opinion. It gets me very confused!

    Re: Time Management Question

18 working days. 10 hours a day. Plus 12 day for multiple revisions. I would estimate 6 weeks in total doing things right and not cutting corners.

P.S. Sorry. I was thinking about skin and color correction too. I would say 3 to 4 weeks for hair only.

      Re: Time Management Question

Retouch to output, ignore the full res file (I never do!). Easier to say than to do.

I would estimate about a fortnight.

Do you have similar examples of work needed you could show us?

        Hi there,

A couple of friends of mine are morning show hosts on a local radio station--they would like to spoof one of the movie posters for the new Twilight film (http://static.newmoonmovie.org/bdm/i...wn-poster1.jpg for example).

        Retouching hair

        Hello masterminds of retouching.

I was wondering how much time and how you work on retouching hair, similar to what I attach here. Most of the time it's about high res images 25-40 megapixel. Attached are crops, but it's the same all around the head.

        I try to keep intact...

I really would appreciate any critical advise you can come up with.

Here's a shot I did rather quickly, very pretty woman, nice smile, pretty hair... but the hair's all over her face! I'm toying with cloning out the hair (yikes, no!), adding more to fill in the gaps or just leave the...

        Question
        by Ron_H
Here is a before and after old photo. It's going on a poster collage for a memorial service. I've taken it to a point I'm satisfied with it except the dark crown vs the lighter hair. I've worked with it to try to blend the shading, and everything I've done looks rough. I hope someone can make a...
