  • Profesional online directory

Hello everyone, newbie here with a question.

Anyone know of an online directory of digital retouching companies? I've done a bit of searching and have been coming up blank with the exception of PDNOnline. Is there such a thing? It seems that there are quite a few retouching companies out there in this big bad world, but I can't seem to find them. BTW, I work at a retouching company and we aren't listed anywhere either, although we're less than 2 years old. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, and are the majority of you freelancers or do you work for someone?

I'd had the idea for something like this when I set up our Links section, with areas for various specialities. A few people participated, but not enough to make it a genuine directory (yet).

      Doug,

I think it would still be a good idea in some respects. It may be a good way to get additional sponsors for the site as well. Perhaps at first you could offer free banner links, or low, introductory rates to retouching companies, or labs etc. I'm only throwing things out there off the top of my head mind you.

I'm not sure if I can link directly, but this is the sort of thing I was searching for. Here @ PDN . It seemed to be a good source of info, but it was the only one I could find and I know that there are many many more that are not listed on their pages. I'm sure they pay to have themselves included.

Because our field is so specialized, I doubt it would feasible to publish such a directory (in print). Then again, I could be wrong. However, there are professional graphic arts annuals that have "Retouching" categories. One such example is "The Workbook."

          Hi
Try looking under photo restoration, my business is listed under photo restoration.

Forgive me for being an ass, but photo restoration is low brow retouching. So is this board. Nothing to see here, moving along. Flame away, but I won't be reading it.

Don't know if you can get it in the states but try the Creative Handbook it lists all Retouching Houses, Ad Agencies etc.

                Training Suggestions Please?

I would be very interested in furthering my training but have some limitations.

So far I have taken the following courses:

                New York Institute of Photography.

Katrin Eismann's Book Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, went through it like a sponge! I still...

I have been asked by a few people if I could do this. I have always declined.

But lately I have been wondering if this would work.

I guess my question is, how would this work? Anyone have ideas?

It should not be a problem...

Where are all the high-end clientele online?
                by ChristopherGFX
Hi I'm located in SoCal and have plenty of high-end work in studio or through agencies in person but I really want to branch out online--and perhaps even fully transition. I'm not looking so much for someone to hand me a job as to give real advice and help me get going in the right direction.

                Retouching Injuries?
                by mike60640
This would seem the most appropriate category to post this question. And yes at first glance it seems funny. But was wondering how many others out there suffer (even just a little) from Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), also referred to as repetitive motion disorder (RMD). Basically from use of the stylus...
