  • More details?

When you complete a job do you list all or most of the things you did to the photo on your receipt or just the basics? I usually only put the basics but I didn't know if it would be an idea to put some of the process down on the receipt to show the customer where his or her money has gone. I know I should probably put more on the quote but I tend to leave a lot out there.

I leave out all the technical things I did to the photo. However, I include the estimate/delivery, CD-ROM, proofing and prints at full price. Then I discount these items 100% at the end. Some think I'm crazy to give so much for nothing. However, I'm a retoucher and I make a living from the work--not the extras. The customer likes to see how much they saved.

      Perfectionist tendencies
      by jeaniesa
OK, this has been bugging me for the past few days and I wonder how everyone else deals with it (if you do). I tend to be detail oriented and a perfectionist in many areas of my life, and of course that tendency is showing up in my photo restoration work. I spent 6-8 hours on both of the photos that...

      Wholesaleing
      by Doug Nelson
So many have mentioned the possibility of getting work from a 3rd party (rather than directly from the client) that I though some things should be said about 'wholesaleing'.

Generally, the idea is you supply the 3rd party at a discounted price, and they resale at a higher price (perhaps...

What's a fair price to charge for creating a photo collage?
      by dipech
      Hi Everyone!

I need help figuring out what to charge for the photo collage below. A friend of mine hired me to make it for him and this project has become much more involved and time consuming than I ever anticipated. We did not set a price in the beginning as I couldn't really tell...

      freelancer needs price advice
      by artmaker
Hey hey, I finally landed a photo retouch job! I am sure I way undercut all the competition. Just want an idea what this job would really run.
      Any input would be welcome.

OK, without actually posting my clients photo, I'll have to settle for a description.
