  • Remember the color generator thread/post?

I remember there was a thread, or possibly an individual post, that told of a color generator that you could download. If I remember correctly, you could pick a color, then run an action (?) to generate a color palette that was filled with colors which would go well with the color you chose. Does anyone remember where that color generator was available from? This was an old post that only the older members would remember. It could possibly been from before Sep't. 2001. Couldn't find it in the search.

    Hi Ed,

The below URL may be what you need.

The hardest thing in design might just be choosing colors. Color Schemer will make your life easier by helping you discover and create matching color combinations.

I know this isn't what you asked, but the old-fashioned way (and always handy whether the computer is on or not) is to get a color wheel from the art store. There are several different ones available, and the price is reasonable.

Ed - I have the link...it is amazing how fast I found this link, I had a hunch that it was on a subpage of a site I had bookmarked at my site...and I got it on the first go!

Photoshop 4 or 5 actions, not sure if they work in later versions.

          Enjoy.

          Regards

          Stephen Marsh.

            Sharon, Greg, and Stephen,

Thanks for the replies. I actually wanted it for my daughter, and the one Stephen posted is the one I remember from before. Thanks again.

Someone keep us posted if that PS act. works.
I d/l, installed, and used the one Sharon posted and I think it's great. I have already applied it to a painting that needed a backgrnd. Its unfinised, but if anyone is actually curious I might flatten, shrink and post it.
              Thanks for this thread!

                Hi Greg,

I visited your album. You've done some very nice work! I'm impressed.

About the Photoshop action...I used it before, but I didn't download this one. It worked great, and it was a freebie.

                  Thank You for the comp.
I've never done a PS action, even though I've d/l a few for future use. I didn't start to use PS again until it became painfully aparent that I had taken PSPs brushes as far as they would go. And that was just a few months ago, so, even though I first learned on PS 2.5 in '95, I switched to PSP at 4 and am a relitive newbie in PS and Painter. Much too long an answer.
