That model was a little too high-end for my budget. I only paid $3500 for my 25Mhz 386 clone . With the money I saved, I put another $200 into a math co-processor and another $500 into a 9600 baud modem. Was that a bargain or what!

      Such a deal!

gary -- thanks for the link; I couldn't afford that baby at the time, but I paid about $2000 for an Apple IIe (64k RAM) and had to pay extra for the external floppy disk drive. I was estatically happy to bring that little package home.

For a mere $8499. you got all that except the Monitor and Mouse were not included. Can you believe it? I bet the monitor and mouse ran you another $2000. I think we owned that one.

Is it my imagination or is this actually one of the few things on earth were you actually get more and pay less as time goes on?

I was one of the fortunate people who waited for the technology to improve by leaps and bounds above the 386.

I snagged a "good deal" on a brand new IBM 486SX/25. This computing demon came loaded with a HUGE 540 mb hard drive and an unheard of 4 mb of RAM. I also had the old standby 5 1/4 inch floppy to accompany that newfangled 3 1/2 inch floppy.

All that for the meager pittance of $3,499.00.

You all may now bow in envy!
