  • Digital Decorating

The thread on photo-art inspired me to do something about getting more color into my house. All of my walls are painted the same shade of off-white and I wondered how they would look with some of the newer jewel tone shades. Anyway, I took some pictures of the rooms with my digital camera and then recolored the walls digitally until I came up with something I liked. I decided to start with the family room and eventually decided on a rich seafoam green which translated into a paint named "laurel". I next wanted to see how a sisal area rug would look on my white tile so I took my camera to a carpet store, took a few pictures and added a rug to my digital room. ...and so forth.

Might have a new business going on here! A few of my friends who dropped in to inspect the job want me to do the same thing with their rooms.Told them I'll do the photography but not the painting. One house is enough to paint!

Excellent way to go about it. My wife picks out the colors for *me* to put on the walls. She's not afraid of using color, and it really does make a difference. I like the idea of adding other things too. Great idea.

Sounds like you're on to something Paulette. Check out this site for help with color matching and coordinating. I use it for my photos but it's actually a paint site.

Thanks for the link to the color site. I should get alot of use out of it.
What I have been doing recently is trying to see if there is a pattern to artwork which I prefer-particularly from the color viewpoint. There is so much to color and preference that I want to figure out.

Do any of you do photo work for clients utilizing only Digital cameras? What type of equipment do you use and what do you see as a possible future for this in combination with the Image Processing programs. Does "digital" offer any clear advantages? Do you do the "clean up" on the...

I have been a traditional 35mm SR person for more than 30 years, and have a small fortune invested in lenses, lighting, flash units, strobe slaves, light meters, and other associated equipment. I have an Epson 3200 Perfection Photo Scanner, and until recently have been happy with using the existing...

I think my interest in this hobby (not sure what name you would call it ) took off when i had my first digital camera, which was a small (under 1megapixel) thing, but cost then about the £100 mark (which is all my subsequent camera's have cost :pleased:up to the 8mp one i have now). I took some great...

Hello all! I'm new to the forums and I'm glad I found this place.

About a month ago my wife found a painting of her grandparents and asked me to take a snapshot of it and fix up in photoshop. The only digital camera I have is actually my DvCam which is what I used to take a couple of...

                Hello Everyone!
My husband and I have been wandering around the eastern seaboard for the last month and every chance I got to get to a computer I'd check out this site. Between me looking for a computer every chance I got( guess I should get a laptop) and he trying to catch some tennis matches...
