Today, I celebrate 45 years of marriage to a great gal. We've been together since she was 16, and we married just after her 18th birthday. Our first born came when she was 20, and we wound up with 5 boys and 4 girls. I was a very lucky guy when I landed this one. When we got married, one of her aunts gave us 6 months.
What a great day for you Ed. You must be two wonderful people. My parents would have been married 45 years this year as well. They too, had been together as teens and defied all criticism. I wish you both the best for today and as you head to 2 new years.

45 years and nine children sounds like you two have faced many challenges together -- most folks would have "cut and run" long before this (divorce rate is well over 50%). It's good to hear a very nice man celebrate his long time committment to a very nice lady -- it sounds like you are BOTH lucky (and smart and loving -- it takes much more than luck to be happily married after 45 years).
Congradulations Ed!! It ain't easy. I know. We are at 34-35 years I think. They have just zipped by. My son will be married in June. They are very compatable and get along great but in our society everything is disposable including marrage. It's scarry. Myself I could not even consider anyone else but Ruth.
My parents celebrated 60 years (Sapphire?) this week so seemed to have stuck it out, my father told me the first year was all sex the next 59 arguing!!
Happy anniversary Ed. Not too much longer and you'll be going for the gold. It's always nice to see a marriage that's weathered the years and still going. Give our congrats to Carole too.
