    Hi,

I hope that this is the right place to post this. I recently installed a network for my and my wifes notebook computer. (Netgear MR814) After finally getting everything up and running I found that the Retouch Pro web site just won't connect so far this is the only web site that does this. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Right now I'm on my daughters computer with a painfully slow dial-up connection. Any help would be welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Craig Carlson

I'm not sure I have an answer for you, but I'm wondering what OS you're running? And can you please clarify that you have connected two notebooks? Or is it one notebook networked to one desktop? (I can't tell from your wording. )

      Hi,

It's Win 2000. The system is a desk top (Win 2000) and a notebook (win xp) I haven't turned on the firewall yet. It just doesn't make sense to me I sent a question to Netgear about this but you know how on line support goes sometime. Thanks for your interest.

      Craig

P.S. minor gloat here, the notebook (Toshiba) was a Christmas present for my wife after all the sales, price matching and rebates the total cost was $500!

        Answers/Question

Looks like you've got a Wireless network setup.

        More info is needed...

        OS (as asked by Jeanie)
Overall network config...although, if ONE website is the only one not showing up...I hardly think your setup is the issue.

Is that the case? Can you get to EVERY other website and ONLY RetouchPro is not coming up? With both systems (that are networked)?

        We can go from there...

        Good luck

          Another question...

Is RetouchPro inaccessible from BOTH computers or just the laptop?

            Hi,

I haven't tried it from the notebook just my main computer. Retouch connected fine just going through the DSL modem but it is the only web site that I have found that will not connect via the wireless router. I'd be starting to pull my hair out but I don't have that much left.

              Yet more questions...

When you say that RetouchPro doesn't connect, please be more specific. I.e., is it only the forum pages which won't connect, or the entire site (incl. home page)? Do you get an error? If so, what does it say? If you don't get an error, what happens instead?

....and what browser? I thought I heard in some other thread some issue (possibly) with the Forums and another browser besides IE?

Ignore if that doesn't apply...the downside of reading SOOOO many forums!

Very puzzling. I have 2 desk tops, hard wired, and 3 laptops. wireless, in a network and haven't any problems with any system or any of three browsers. The only problem I have is with mozilla 1.3a and it displays fine but when viewing pics there is a bug in newest software that requires about 3 extra clicks... Tell us more, tell us more.

                    Hi,

What happens is one I click the link or type in the TouchPro address the browser IE 5.5 looks like it gonna look for the site but nothing happens the browser window just stays blank. I don't even get a message saying web site not found. It's like the Retouchpro address is not making it past the wireless router.

Do you see any sort of "progress bar" at the bottom of the IE browser window indicating that it's trying to connect?

                      (This is really strange...)

                        Hi,

Well I just downloaded IE 6.1 and still nothing. With the 5.5 version there was no activity on the status bar with 6.1 the status bar started to move but then just stalled. (I waited for ten minutes) I guess I'll try and call Netgear tomorrow, I still haven't received a responce from them on my e-mail. The last time I called them with a question the person could barely speak english which I'm sure was as frustrating to him as it was to me. On a side note, before the wireless router problem I was using Zone Alarm as a firewall. With the add blocking feature enabled on Zone Alarm our pop up menus to the left of the screen here at Retouch would go bonkers.

P.S. I sure am glad we are a multiple computer household. I wouldn't be able to do this without it. 8-)

                          Hi,

Well my wife finally came home with the notebook and I wanted to try it as soon as possible, lo and behold the notebook connected up right away, OK I'll go to the big computer and try, nope nothing. This is so strange.

Hmm, that's a very strange problem. you mentioned you were using Zone Alarm, are you using any firewall now? and if I'm assuming you've tried connecting with both the firewall activated and off? I used to use Zone alarm, but when I upgraded it, I couldn't connect to anything, so I switched to the Sygate firewall and I haven't had those problems since. I was just reading through this quickly, if I understand correctly your wife's computer is the one connected to the modem and you're connected through the router? have you checked the router setting for a port that's being blocked? I've never heard of a problem like this where it's only one site that you can't access. One other idea I had is that it might be a problem specific to Internet explorer no matter what version, so you could try using another browser like Netscape or Opera.

I agree with David. It sounds like a firewall problem. Try it with the firewall off. I have noticed with cookies and/or "Enablers" turned off the firewall blocks some sites completely. I use the firewall "Outpost" and a built in NAT in the Linksys router.

                              Keep us posted.
