  • That's Using Your Head!

It was the final examination for an introductory English course at the local university. Like many such freshman courses, it was
designed to weed out new students, having over 700 students in the class. The examination was two hours long, and exam booklets were
provided. The professor was very strict and told the class that any exam that was not on his desk in exactly two hours would not be
accepted and the student would fail. Thirty minutes into the exam, a student came rushing in and asked the professor for an exam

"You're not going to have time to finish this," the professor stated sarcastically as he handed the student a booklet.

"Yes I will," replied the student. He then took a seat and began writing. After two hours, the professor called for the exams, and
the students filed up and handed them in. All except the late student, who continued writing. Thirty minutes later, the last
student came up to the professor who was sitting at his desk preparing for his next class. He attempted to put his exam on the stack
    of exam booklets already there.

"No you don't, I'm not going to accept that. It's late."

The student looked incredulous and angry. "Do you know WHO I am?"

"No, as a matter of fact I don't," replied the professor with an air of sarcasm in his voice.

"DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" the student asked again.

"No, and I don't care." replied the professor with an air of superiority.

"Good,"replied the student, who quickly lifted the stack of completed exams, stuffed his in the middle, and walked out of the room.

Wish I would have thought of that a few times. That was cute.

I did up a cartoon based upon the same idea a couple of years back for a university publication I was working on at the time. Oh how I don't miss exams.

        Oh, Ed, I love it!

I admire that type of moxie, but would never even think of it myself.

Matt -- clever cartoon. (Maybe you're the student in the story...?)

Pretty cool Matt. Maybe the story I posted actually came from your cartoon.

Love the cute cartoon. It really gives a visual to the joke. You make a great cartoonist.

thanks for the kind words guys. Cartoons are surprisingly difficult to do and after working on them for some time, you get to the end and wonder "is this actually funny". I have more cartoons on my website which are a mix of humour, satire and other.

                Hey Matt,
In case we forgot to say it, welcome to the Retouch Pro forum. After checking out your website, I can say you are a definate asset to us all. You are very talented and I loved your site. I plan to check it out more when I have more time. (heading off to bed now) Anyway, glad you found our group worthy to join.

Thanks for the comments, muchly appreciated. Glad you liked the site and I feel a little bit out of sorts here as I'm only starting to get into the photo retouching aspect having played around with alot of 'digital art' idea's (thus you'll probably see me forever commenting about ideas of shadow and composition).

I'm flattered you think that I would be an 'asset' and thanks for the welcome. I just have a really good feel about this forum as I've been heavily involved with others in terms of posting and offering comments. The forum reminds me of the 'golden age' of another forum that I regularly use several years back - it had alot of very creative / highly talented people taking the time to offer good feedback. Unfortunately word got out of how great it was, there was a subsequent influx of 'newbies' who would rather flame one another, and it has never recovered.

Thus I wouldn't worry about size of the forum. Having a small number of people who take the time to 'post wisely' is much better than a large forum that is out of control.

With over 120 members and many non-members on this site, there has never been any reason for a flame war to get started. That makes me pretty proud of this group. Granted, we're still in our infancy, but the chances for something like that happening are very slim since the forums are monitored. No doubt, sooner or later we'll encounter an individual who enjoys disrupting things, but that person will have his posts edited or deleted soon after the attempt is made. This is a great group as is, and if flame wars were allowed, people would simply leave.

Same here, we like it because it is nice and any trouble makers will be warned and then if they keep it up they will have to go. It's not what we're about here. Too bad that other place got out of control.

As for you being out of place here, I look at it this way. You contribute a different perspective from a more artistic aspect to our efferts and the fact that you are just starting the restoration or digital manipulations means we can offer something back to you. Sounds like a matched set to me.
