  • Black Forest Cheesecake

    I found this reeally good cheesecake recipe a couple days ago and tried it. I warn you now, this is *very* addictive stuff!!!

    Crust:

    1/3 cup Butter or Margarine
    1 1/2 cup Chocolate wafer crumbs
    2 tbsp. Granulated sugar

    melt butter in saucepan. stir in crumbs and sugar. press into 10" springform pan and chill.


    Chocolate filling:

    4 - 8oz of Cream cheese
    1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
    1 cup cocoa
    4 large eggs
    1 cup whipped cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries

    Beat sugar and cream cheese together in a mixing bowl. mix in cocoa, then beat in eggs one at a time. add cream and vanilla and beat in slowly. fold in cherries.
    pour mixture over chilled crust and bake at 325F for approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes, then run knife around edge to loosten and cool completely.

    Toppings:

    19oz Cherry pie filling

    Spread as much pie filling as desired evenly on cooled cake.

    Melt 1/3 cup of chocolate chips and drizzle or pipe over filling.

    Beat together until stiff:

    1 cup whipped cream
    1 tbsp. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Pipe or spoon around outside edge

    Chill. serves 12

      David, I think it is cruel and unusual punisment to put a cheesecake recipe on the forum so close to the 1st of the year. My diet will last for at least another week or two. Could't you have waited?

            I can't believe I missed this thread before. I could smell the chocolate, but didn't know where it was coming from. Sounds like a real winner to me!

              My stepmother turned me on to this. If you want a good marinade (especially for tri-tip), use Italian salad dressing. I like Wishbone Robusto Italian because it has big chunks of garlic in it. Let it marinade overnight, then throw on the grill. yum!
