  • Guilty Pleasures

No one took my hint, so I'll start this thread myself.

Guilty pleasures...movies you're kind of embarrassed to admit you enjoy.

    For me these would enclude:

    Roger Moore James Bond movies

    Pauly Shore movies

    Adam Sandler movies

    Rob Schneider movies

There, now that you've all lost any tiny amount of respect you might have had for me, it's your turn. What are your guilty pleasure movies?

Dude! Most excellent recommendation! And let us not forget the bodacious sequel.

ah yes... the "Bogus Journey"...Keanu's finest acting in a film

Another "guilty pleasure" - Tremors... The quintessential Kevin Bacon movie! (well, besides Footloose...but no way would I ever admit to watching that!)

Tremors was excellent, I don't even feel guilty about liking it. But you did remind me of Trancers, which I do feel guilty about enjoying (especially guilty due to my longtime schoolboy crush on Helen Hunt).

I only feel guilty about the number of times I have seen Tremors!

Never saw Trancers...I'll have to look that one up.

I guess one of mine is a tearjerker! "Terms of Endearment". An excellent movie that will really get you choked up. Now you know I'm a softie.

It's bad enough I admitted liking Sandler movies, don't make me defend them

What's a cobbler, and do they only come in loads? Are old cobblers worse than new cobblers?

Yes!! I was going to say Tremors but you beat me to it. I watch it every time it comes on TV so I must have seen it 30 times and lately they came out with the the 3rd in the series. The creatures took to the air in that one and blew fire balls everywhere. They called them ass blasters in the movie. It was hilarious. They're great but the first one was still the best.

How bad is this, I was on a Chuck Norris kick for awhile. Watched all those movies several times and they are at the bottom of the barrel as far as acting goes.

I also loved watching Crocodile Dundee 1 and 2 over and over.

Ed Wood movies, especially " Plan 9 from Outer Space". What can I say, I am drawn to his works ( other than the porn films he made towards the end of his life) like a Lemming to a high cliff over looking the sea....they are so bad they make you feel good. Devoid of plot, talent, script, with miserable props and outlandish make up, they have a peculiar sedative effect when watched intently.....Tom

I forgot all about "Plan 9 from Outer Space"! I don't remember much about it except being able to see the strings holding up the space ships and...something about zombies?

Godzilla movies are another guilty pleasure...especially the one with Mothra!

RE; Plan 9......The "Special Effects" are so astonishingly crude as to induce uncontrollable hysterical laughter when viewed....once the stunned astonishment dissapates.....Tom

Was 'Plan 9' on similar line to Buster Crabbs sets in Flash Gordon with sparklers attached to the space ships or perhaps not as sophisticated ! I always had a soft spot for Ming the Merciless myself.

Doug, 'Cobblers' the dangly bits on stallions !

Along the same lines, only much less sophisticated... Tom

OK, we have a thread for books, a thread for music, an entire forum for cooking, it's about time we had a thread for my favorite subject: movies.

I'm a total moviephile. I have every movie channel our cable system offers, and netflix.com's biggest subscription package. And I wish I had...

                                Movies of redemption
                                by Doug Nelson
I'm in the mood for a good redemption movie, Shawshank or otherwise. You know, where someone does something bad, then more than makes up for it? Or something bad happens to someone, then they turn it around and it all works out great?

Some good ones that come to mind:
                                The African...

                                Hi all,

since I am a big big fan of this movie and I was a little bored today I thought I'd setup some nice wallpapers about this flick.

forgive me, doug. i know you have a bad movie thread and some others, but i couldnt really find one that fit this category. these are movies that are so bad, bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, possibly, but not necessarily low budget. these movies are so bad that they're fun to watch. Science Fiction...
