  • To those I have ignored

In trying to catch up with the email that accumulated during my recent internet outage I discovered a shocking number of emails that I never responded to. Some of these are almost a year old. All of them were cases of "I don't have time right now, so I'll flag it and get to it later", then I didn't and forgot about them.

I feel badly about this, but in my own defense I doubt anyone would be able to keep up while still maintaining hobby status. Perhaps I could handle it in a more professional matter, but mostly it's a case of not wanting to reply with "sorry, I don't have time to walk you through the restoration of your image" or "sorry, but this isn't a good image for Challenges" or "sorry, but what you're looking for is quite impossible"...you get the idea. I guess I just don't like telling people "no", so I just don't say anything at all.

I'll try to do better, but I just wanted to post this in case you're one of the ones still eagerly waiting for a reply. If this was a business my behavior would be ruinous, but even as a hobby it's still rude. I apologize, and I wish I could say it will never happen again, but it inevitably will.

I guess all I'm saying is don't take it personally if I don't respond to your email.

Oh sure... <sniff> okay. We understand. <sniff, sniff> You just don't love us anymore! We've been waiting forever... sitting at our computers, staring at the screens until our eyes shrivel dry, hoping that someday Doug will talk to us. <sniff, sniff>

You're human! None of us want to be the bearer of bad news. And I think all of us here understand how you feel.

What can we say -- we love ya!

Hey Arura! (about travel in Viet Nam)
        by jeaniesa
        Hi Arura,

I thought I'd move the discussion of VN travel over here so that we don't clutter up the Critiques thread with off-topic discussion. Anything goes over here in Salon though!

Wow - 5 weeks to see VN! That sounds about right. I brought my mother with me in...

        Calling All At-Home-Dads
        by Gerry Monaghan
I am trying to grow my new business while continuing to be primary care giver for 3 little boys, Caleb 7, Benjamin 4, Luke 1. I have often said that this child rearing is the hardest thing I have ever done. There is a reason people have small children when they are in their twenties. At 42, chasing...

Torrential rains and wind expected in Phoenix
        by bpurvis
Man, we hardly ever get rain, but when we do... The 2nd massive storm system heading east from the coast should hit us tonight and drop 4 or more inches in 2 days. That's as much rain as we often get in a year. Wind advisory warns of serious gusts.

People I have to tell you that I'm...

        by DJ Dubovsky
        Hi Flora
I just heard about the terrible terrorist attack on your city of Milan and I am so sorry. There was official notice that the Piper plane that flew into the tallest building there was in fact a terrorist attack. I hope you and your family and friends are all unharmed. It gets more...

        by pepperphoto
This is a copy of an email I received a couple of days ago.
I am asking that additional people consider helping with this project.
        thank you
