    Where are the Challenge threads?
    by RobertAsh
    Hi,

I've been trying in vain to find the original for the Amber challenge thread. Here is one retouch done there that I like:

Unfortunately there are so many entries to this challenge that I've scrolled through...

    Challenge: Forced Perspective
    by Doug Nelson
This thread gave me the idea for this.

Take a photo and change the perspective of all or parts so that anyone looking at it will know it's just "wrong". Post as attachments here.

    Challenge: Googlography
    by Doug Nelson
Here's an exercise for your composition skills.

    The challenge:

Go to http://maps.google.com and turn on Street View (you'll need Flash installed)
Use Street View and only Street View to compose a photo (ie: no retouching)
Capture the photo and attach here...

    Challenge: Odd Combinations
    by T Paul
For this challenge you are to take an ordindary object and change it into a material that typically wouldn't be used to make the object. For instance a hammer made out of glass. Or a coffee cup covered in fur (talk about hairballs...)

Attach your file to your first post (no URLs, please)....

    Photorealism Challenge: Toothbrush
    by T Paul
In this challenge you can use photos for reference, but none can be used for the actual image. You must create the image from scratch. Be sure to include your steps, as this will be a great way to pick up some new techniques.

    Challenge:
Create a photorealistic toothbrush. If you...

This is a browser app that generates random rectangles while simultaneously watching the output with facial recognition software. If it sees something that looks vaguely "facial" it freezes that part and continues on elsewhere. Over time it generates an abstract shape that can be seen as a face if you squint a bit.

You can crank up the specs to vary the effect, but my experiments haven't shown that the "faces" get any more real.

This Doodle challenge is to generate a "face" using whatever specs you choose, then retouch it to look as "real" as you can. Then post both versions here.

This is for fun and to sharpen skills, not for competing or prizes. But commenting on other's work is invited, as are multiple tries. And there's no expiration date, so if you're reading this in this years from now it's still perfectly OK to post a new result.

If you blog, tweet, or facebook please post the URL for this thread so we get as many people involved as possible.

This is certainly nothing even remotely like a face, but it was a cool accident I got when doing some experiments with this.

Same image, just changed the blend mode. Again, not a face, but I think it's thoroughly cool-looking.
