  • Starting with D&B (Opinions Needed)

Hello, im a graphic designer / photographer from Spain, and im new in this site. I found it really usefull and interesting (really good profesionals here). I'm starting to lear the D&B technics (i used to blur... :/) wich i learn reading here and watching Godmother's video so i need some opinions to improve my skills.

I used i picture i took time ago and retouch it with some Highlights and shadows layer.

    Thank you.

Wow excellent job! I have to say that I'm quite impressed. Great detail sustained throughout, yet you still managed to get almost completely flawless skin. The only thing I can suggest is that I might minimize the appearance of the pores a little more. The high contrast in them really makes them stick out. Also, the shadow on the inside of (her) left eye is a little dark for my taste. But really, overall a fantastic job!

        which video do you mean?

I agree with jam1212. Good work but a little bit too obvious.

hey, thanks for the opinions. this is the first try, ill to do an other one making it looking not so hard (talking about the pores)

i mean this video: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...y-retouch.html not a tutorial but very helpful.

            Hi Edugomez,

Can you elaborate the equipment with which you shot, lighting etc... + the steps you went through to get to the retouched version. Very very impressive for starters!!!!

            Thank you.

            Sri

              I used a D200 and Sigma 28-70 2.8 and a Quantun T5D flash.
For skin retouching i follow Godmother's video (link above, stopping it all the time) and then i just make some curves, levels, selective color layers for the general look of the image.

nice retouch. Work more on details now! the hair on the forehead could be better, on the right side there is areas with white hair that could be retouched! and some stray hair that could be cloned away to make the hair look more organized...not much left side of the forehead you have some strays and to the right of the right cheek...I also wante to see how the lips looked touched up even though her lips are a signature feature in some way!

hope you don't mind me playing with it

Yes you are right, i just play with the big issues dont pay much attention to the details in the first try. Next time, i'll go for them. About the lips, i did exactly what you do but as u say... they are like a signature.

                  Thanks for your opinion

Looks to me like there's some blur in there somewhere, I doubt of thats pure D&B

Not too bad at all. Nice work! I would try to minimize some of the pores on the her forehead, my eyes keep going right to it. I am not sure what it is exactly but it looks like a "scar" of sorts on her left cheek. I see you toned it down some, but just go a little further with it because it is still noticable. Aside from that, just remove a bit more friz from the left side and her forehead.

                        Nice work.
