  • NEWBIE wants feedback

    Hi there,

I am a complete newbie in retouching and I would love to get your feedback!

I am a freelance model who is obsessed with fashion and beauty photography, and hence I decided to engage in retouching.

Please feel free to criticize my work and to give me any tips that could help me with pursuing this new hobby.

I am grateful to user Smoshkov from Modelmayhem to have provided us with RAW files to edit // http://www.modelmayhem.com/forums/post/913614/4

Attached are two edited pictures of the same image. I used the frequency separation technique that Phlearn taught, but I am aware that I over did it and that the skin looks blurry and has little texture. I have also included the unretouched image.

    Thank you!!!

Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, have fun!

Are you looking for Retouched Photo Realism where every pore is visible and all the flaws have magically disappeared for a major publication or just trying to set a mood or atmosphere to suite your own tastes? If the latter, I think the Retouching is well executed.. only a few areas where I probably would have done a bit more to even out the skin tones.,..1: the bright area under the chin, 2:the hollow of the neck (where it is dark) and 3: do something to make the shoulder less prominent so it's not a focal point
All in all, I think the retouches look great and with practice 'cubed' your work will look even better and better
