  • Natural retouch

    Hi,

this is a retouch of a raw image of a member of the forum (I understand no one cares about the before image): http://i.pi.gy/2Bk9.jpg

My aim was to do a natural retouch. Still have a long way to go.

    Thanks

    Re: Natural retouch

You've used some sort of filter, it really affects the image. Use DNB to even out tones, and cloning/healing to remove zits pimples, lines, hairs.

Yep, for the most I used clone on the high freq layer in lighten/darken mode (sample and tap); I wonder what is the cross sign that moves when I tap, if I uncheck "align sample" it doesn't move.

What is that filter you've used on the arms, chest? There is no need for it.

Do you mean the filter that gives sharpness overall? Otherwise no filter used locally.

EDIT: the crosshair moves random when I tap on the same spot that's what I meant in previous post.

Yes, because it's constantly picking from the same spot when you uncheck it.

EDIT: It shows you the source point.

The look-like-filter on the arm and chest is basically very bad cloning. Anyway, I work on the high freq layer with the clone tool (current layer - lighten) with 30% flow sample and slowly paint or tap.

This way seems to work better for me instead of micro db. Then, I do db carving with larger brush.

              I am just applying this:

Tumblr is a place to express yourself, discover yourself, and bond over the stuff you love. It's where your interests connect you with your people.

What can you do on the HIGH layer?

              • Using the clone (Usually with soft edges – “Current Layer” selected) tool in normal and both darken and lighten mode. But now, you’re only sampling the texture.
              • Using the patch tool to replace texture.

Try healing more, and using cloning and healing for texture, not to smooth things out. I think you're using clone where you should be DNBing.

Texture is not uniform, and face is too bright IMHO.

Face is too bright here too? (no skin retouch) http://i.pi.gy/Lga9.jpg

Most definitely overly bright (also the arm).

My last for today. Just patch tool and basic color correction (and fill whites with white): http://i.pi.gy/Jql3.jpg

There are way too many local problems to mention them all, but I must praise you as the overall tones are much better then in previous two. Forehead is bumpy, so is skin all over, chin is not retouched, neck is not retouched, stray hairs are not removed, peach fuzz is still distracting, eyes are a tad dark... Masking of hair is also sloppy on bottom left.

Take your time with skin and hair. I don't think you've spend more then half an hour and it shows.

The link you have shared is corrupted and the photo is no longer there. I guess the photo was there before as the others have already commented. Please check what happened to the photo you have uploaded so that more people can see your retouched photo. I do not know why these photos get corrupted over time.
