  • Texturizer Problems - Help!

    Hey guys,

I just scanned some denim material for use as a texture, but when I use it there's a seam showing. I've tried everything I can think of but I can't get the seam to go away. The vertical seam seems fine, it's the horizontal seam that's the problem.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here (see sample)

    Jak,

Is the line a result of a "seam" piecing together the texture file to apply it to a larger image? Or does it appear all on it's own?

I was playing around a LOT with the texturizer filter today and there were a couple of textures provided with PS that caused a horizontal line to run through them also. It didn't happen on all of them and I couldn't figure out what caused the problem.

If the line is appearing on what could be the "seam" however, there may be hope. Try using the offset filter on the texture file - using a horizontal and vertical offset amount equal to half of the pixel width and height respectively (and set it it "wrap"). Then, if you see any strange lines, fix those up with the clone tool or whatever else you choose. This should create a "seamless" texture or background pattern for you.

Thanks Jeaniesa. It was appearing all on its own when I ran it through the texturizer. But, I think I figured out the problem. My scan had a shadow at the top that I didn't notice at first and when I recropped the thing it seemed to clear it up. Man, I'm glad it was that simple, but I feel like a real DOOF. This is the first time I've made my own texture instead of using one that was already there though, so I guess it stands to reason I wouldn't know what the heck I'm doing...

      Thanks for the help!

Another thing you can do is cut the image in half horizontally. Them swap them and retouch the seam. Repeat vertically. Then you'll have a swatch that can be tiled seamlessly, since all the edges that are now touching used to be in the middle.

Doug, that's exactly what the offset filter (with wrap) does.

Well that does make sense, Doug! I think I'll give that a try and see if it looks better than the one I got from recropping.

            Thanks!

I am afraid I cant help you much, other than some of the suggestions already offered. Here is a tileable piece of denim, not as much fun as dong it yourself but less tears

I had a quick brainwave. I don't know if you use Photoshop 7 but the heal tool seemed to work well (I admit to not trying tiling it) because it works on luminence values, it seemed fairly proficient.

                  Paper Texture Problem
                  by SWolfe
Sorry, seems my attachment didn't "stick" with my last post attempt.

Hi, I'm hoping I can find some tips on how to deal with a paper texture problem.

I have a series of pictures I am restoring and many of them have a deep paper texture pattern that is very ugly....

                  hi

i want to generate repetitive patterns for cgi artists.
i found out how to do this in photoshop cs5 (my main app) now,
but the difficulty is to generate a pattern which has no seam on all 4 sides.

i asked already a similar question at subforum, they meant...

Believe me folks if have agonized for a month over this pic before I decided to send it here. It's a friends 2x3 original of all their 11 kids and it has the worst texture ever. Not snake skin or lizard or honeycomb. Completely sadistic.

I haven't even tried to repair it until I can...

I’ll bet you’ve probably used the Texturizer filter to add a “canvas” or “burlap” look to an image. I’ll bet you’ve even duplicated an “artsy-looking” layer, applied the Emboss filter to and changed the blend mode of the embossed layer to Overlay to give an image even more depth....

                  Hello to everyone!
I'm pretty desperate so I would like to ask you if someone could help me to solve this issue.
A client asked me if I could make a woman half metal (in detail using the texture of his accessories) and half skin.
I looked for tutorial around: I noticed that the...
