    Hello all,

This shot was taken at around midnight in the rain with a tripod. Seems that this photo can be improved, just not sure how. I sharpened it with decent results. (original is posted). Any advise on adjustment that your expert eyes can see would be greatly appreciated. This photo will be eventually be framed and presented as a gift. Thanks.

      Re: night shot

I ran the photo thru Digital Roc and got a whiter light. Not having ever seen the memorial, I don't know which light cast is correct. I also brought out the sign above the memorial.

Thanks Chillin, making that sign visible didn't even cross my mind. Dcobb, the light in the original is about right.

          Re: night shot

Nice photo - Here's my one minutes worth.

          Duplicated background
          Image => Adjustment => Shadows/Highlights
Use Shadow slider to lighten shadows
Layer => Add Layer Mask => Reveal All
Select Layer Mask and use a black brush to hide top and bottom dark areas.

Hi, I know it's a bit off on all accounts, but rather than deleting it, I am posting it here anyway.

Quick question. Why do the arms appear to be transparent?

                Because they moved during exposure?

How do I fix that? Paint them in?

                    Re: night shot

I'd leave them as they are. Painted in could look fake. And folks expect some subject movement during long exposures. Doesn't really detract from the image IMO.

                      Re: night shot

Channel overlays are the way to go usually because a lot of information is stored in the red, green, and blue channels that might just be perfect for brightening or darkening an image. I used the red channel with a linear dodge and then again with the cleanest brightest channel that combination produced and used it to brighten it up just a little more and thus preserved the natural color of the picture and everything worth seeing it there. Channels are awesome.

                        Hi Dimmi,

Just another version... I kinda liked the warm tones for this one.

Thanks, Dave! I just finished a huge batch of dark photos so this one felt familiar to me.

Attached is a photo I took of my friends at a dance club- All through are ballroom or Country dancers and I like to try get shots of us dancing when we can. Problem was that in this low light situation with a point in shoot, I was hoping the flash would output enough to keep me from having to use a...

                                Hi all,

I'm planning on doing a shot of a person in a steamy environment. Or at least I want to shoot them with steam behind them. The space is fairly confined and I want to keep the steam mostly behind them and not between them and the lens.

My initial idea was to use...

Hey everyone, I've been trying to figure out how this shot was done. The lighting, the levitation of the girl, it's sublime. Please shed some light on this for me and others. Thank you so much.

i found this in a magazine i bought for the cover story..i don't know how wide the platform she's standing on but i don't see any sort of safety lines at all, so one wrong step or a gust of wind could be disastrous......
