I have a photo of my girl with rough background and a shadow. I have spent the last few hours using gimp trying to get rid of both but not much success

Basically I want to get rid of the wall shadow and if possible have a smooth background. I need this urgently and appreciate any help..

    Can anyone please help?

Hi there, I have an image of an uncle of mine that has very harsh shadow on one side of his face. I only want to know whether the image is able to be fixed or whether there's simply too much shadow. And if so whether it can be fixed using gimp and what techniques I should use. I do have a slightly higher...

        by cendres
Probably doing something stupid here, but let me ask the question.

Lets say I have a background image and then I select a person from another image and paste it as a new layer over the background image. When doing this I often have to create a mask on the upper layer to clean up the...
