RGB to CMYK Conversion HELP :-(

    RGB to CMYK Conversion HELP :-(

    This images shows ok in RGB. When i convert it into
    CMYK mode. Then CMY channel become too faded
    (blurr, ghosty) and patchy but black channel looks fine.

    Its my son pictures thre r so many pictures. Im feeling too helpless.
    I hv work on ths images in CMYK mode.

    Its really annoying...
    Can someone help pls.

    I have this picture in W: 2080px H: 1960px & 300dpi size

      What is the reason for you to have to work in CMYK?

      Is there any reason that you cannot work in RGB first to edit the image to your satisfaction then do the conversion to the required flavour of CMYK for a particular device?

        This will always happen. The RGB channels have more definition than the CMY channels of a CMYK image. The K or Black Channel will often have more detail than the other three channels in a CMYK image.

        What matters most is how the composite CMYK image looks compared to the RGB original.

          My only concern in why the CMY channel become patchy, whn i didnt the dpi of image.

          Well im wrking in ad agency(last 10yrs) in india and according the printing standard we have to wrk in cmyk mode. so im use to work in cmyk mode. i hvnt seen this kind of problem.

          We got the images from photographers & stock images site. these are also in RGB mode. when i convert those images in CMYK mode, CYM wont look patchy all. ya ths true black hv more detail compare to CMY channel...

            I'm aware that RGB is a larger gamut of colours then CMYK. If I had an original image that is given to me in "CMYK" when using Photoshop for colour correcting; is there any loss in quality if I convert the CMYK image to RGB.

            I saw a thread in a few days, about photo like this picture but I can't find it. When I changed this picture to cmyk (profil EuscaleCoated v2.). I've lost the detail of light at the upper right, as U see. I tried some other profile but it was the same. Can someone help to...

            Clicking on the channels layer will normally give you the red green and blue channels layers.

            I forget how to get cmyk layers and how to get both cmyk and rgb layers all in the same channels list. How do i go about doing this?

            I hope this makes sense. Anyone?

            Should it matter to the retouching house if I work in
            RGB or CMYK? You can always convert the mode - is it
            such a big deal?

            I've noticed several of the Challenge entries mention working in CMYK mode. This intrigues me, since the originals and destination are both RGB.

            Is it simply a case of working in the mode you're most comfortable with, or are their more pragmatic reasons for converting?
