  • Drop Shadow question

I'm working on a photo montage and keep running into this...

I've got many different layers, on some of them I have drop shadows. But if I change the Drop Shadow properties for one layer, those properties are changed for ALL the layers that have Drop Shadows.

I even took one of the layers into a new document, setup the Drop Shadow there and duplicated it back into my original document, but the angle, etc changed to match what was already there.

What am I doing wrong? Or how can I do this?

    Thanks

Just a thought off the top of my head so I don't know if this will work or not so...... try locking the layers you don't want changed.

      Unclick "global" under lighting.

        jrolinc,

In your dialog box, if Use Global Light is checked it will keep the same angle for all of your drop shadows. So just uncheck this and you will get your desired result.

Question on drop shadows and masks
            by cendres
Probably doing something stupid here, but let me ask the question.

Lets say I have a background image and then I select a person from another image and paste it as a new layer over the background image. When doing this I often have to create a mask on the upper layer to clean up the...

            Drop Shadow
            by WendyW
On one layer I have an image of a man and on another layer the background. What I want to do is create a drop shadow on a separate layer so that I can adjust the shadow (keep it attached at his feet ... but drop the rest of the shadow at the side of him) ... not sure if I'm explaining this very well)...

            How to straighten shadow
            by jeroboams
            Hello all,

This might come across as a stupid question but does anyone know how to straighten the shadow underneath this print?

Apparently it can be done without using the 'drop shadow technique' but I just don't know how.

            Can anyone advise?

            Realistic Shadows
            by jvr
            Hi all,

Very often, I've got to do or redo the shadow of an object. A realistic
shadow, not a flat drop shadow.

For example I've got to remove the background of a table and create
a new realistic shadow for the table agains a white background.

            How much drop shadow?
            by Lynda99
I really like earrings floating on white, or maybe with just a tiny bit of shadow at the bottom of the lower earring, but several have told me to anchor more distinctly.

I've looked at the jewelry sites that were recommended as having very good technique, and the shadows vary drastically...
