New Photo need help with...

Hi all,

I shot a few shots of my grandson and his mother is in the background and would like to have her removed if there is a way to do so. I have about 5 of these photos, but will only post one of them. Any help would be appreciated.

There are many ways to accomplish this, here's one that will work in Elements.

Notice the layer stack, that's the most important part.

Duplicate the background layer, flip it horizontally, and add a blank layer between the two layers, and then group the duped bg layer and the blank layer (Ctrl-G or hold down the Alt key and click between them).

Now painting on the blank layer with any color at all will allow the grouped image to show through. Use the eraser on the same blank layer to hide any part again (this is similar to Photoshop's layer masking, but works a little different).

You might need to use the Move tool on the duplicate layer to fine-tune the positioning.

You can also copy sections to their own layer and use the same masking technique to further refine this technique. The image I show in the screenshot is far from finished. I'd probably copy some of the brick background and use that to hide her left shoulder, etc.
