  • Bad printed color

    I need your advice.

I use an iMac computer and an Epson C80 printer.

I worked on a photo which looked perfect on the screen, but when I printed it, some of the colors were way off. Strangely the skin tones printed fine, but the lady's dress was way more blue than it should have been.

There is an Epson 1280 printer in my near future, but in the meantime, what can I do to get more accurate colors?

    Thanks,
    Margaret

This may be an ingnorant question but have you calibrated your monitor to match the color profile that your printer is using? I'm not a Mac user so I don't even know if this is a necessary step for Macs.

If you are using Photoshop and work in RGB, you may want to check to see if any of the colors are out of the CMYK gamut. Vibrant blues and greens tend to more difficult for CMYK printers to reproduce and this may explain why the skin tones are fine but her dress is way off.
