  • Speciality photo papers for Canon Printers

    Hi
Got this nice new printer - a Canon i960 and I am looking for recommendations for a photo art paper. Right now my preference with my old HP printer is the Kodak Ultima Satin. I prefer a matte finish and according to the specs I can't use anything over 270 g which rules out a few choices.

I thought there was a thread somewhere on this site about paper but I can't seem to find it.
    Thanks
    PC

Wow-that post you directed me to was funny. I too loaded the paper in in reverse by mistake( it's actually the way I was used to doing it on the HP) and liked the result I got on the wrong side of the paper. Go figure!

        Re: speciality photo papers

Here in Europe we have the Ilford Galleria range
offering heavy duty Gloss Matt and Pearl- anything like that in the States?

Also there is no rule that says print only on Ink jet paper [ OEM or third party]
Go to an art store and look out some samples of various textures and finishes

The printer ain't fussed it'll squirt ink onto any thing that will go through
the results can be er- interesting ;-0l

          hi,
you mentioned paper.. it reminded of a incident of years ago when there was on expensive hp glossy, if you wanted anyone else you were force to go to a wholeseller/retailer to get a better price... well Idid but didn't pay attention to the kind of glossy paper I got!!.... instead of getting your standard inkjet glossy which is designed for waterbased inks I got a glossy that designed for oil based they look no difference betweent the two .... talking about the results... it looked liked a impressionist painting.. everything was smeared.... smile..... when printed...!!

Re: Speciality photo papers for Canon Printers

              Hi Paulette

I have a higher end Canon, the i9900 that is fantastic. I love their gloss papers for what I do, but I use Epson's matte and semi-matte papers. I made my own profile for the papers for best results. I use the printer for quick and sometimes final proof images for the photographers I do work for and there have been no complaints. Not even from the printers oddly enough.

I do make profiles for people as a side business. If you want some made for each of the papers you use let me know.

              Chris

I too have a Canon i960. Epson Heavyweight Matte works great in my printer.

I've got a Canon i960 that for years produced excellent photos (so good, no one could tell the difference between them and ones printed professionally). However, now, every time I want to print something, I have to do a deep cleaning just to get an adequate image. There's usually one or two colors that...

I know that this is not a "photo quality" printer, but I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on this problem.

I have an HP 1210 all-in-one printer/scanner/photocopier that has performed well for a couple of years. I use it mostly for making photocopies.

                  Hi Folks,

A couple of months ago I bought a i950 Canon printer. I think (after owning 4 HP printers) that this is by far the best printer I've had. One problem, Canons' offering of a photo matte paper was less than stella (I'm a matte type of person) The other day I loaded some photo...
