  • how do i color a b & w?

Ok, how would i color a balck and white picture that i scanned. i know you use the one at the mode where you change it at rgb and then add a new layer on the top with overlay mode anc color away then flatten. but is there really an easier way? MAybe a filter? Thanks for reading my post

Not that I am any sort of expert but I usually convert to RGB and then paint using the eyedropper tool selection from another photograph. I use a new layer for each color. It takes awhile but you can adjust the opacity of each color layer as you see fit. I haven't done many but I don't think a filter would work that well as it would pick colors for you and there would be a lack of control. Hope this helped a little....

You may want to check out this challenge. With the old challenges, members had to say exactly how they achieved what they did, which should give you a good idea how to go about colorizing a picture.

Sorry Garfield... no filter magic. You will need to "apply color by hand."

Here's a tutorial that should get you started.

          by Jakaleena
I'm not new to computers or the internet, but I am a complete novice at using Photoshop 6. I'm a contractor and I'm trying to find a way to show people what their house would look like after changing some colors for example their siding or their shutters. I thought it should be a relatively simple thing...

I've just shot a wedding in which the mother of the Bride asked if I could change the color of the curtains over the baptismal area. On a scale of...

I have hard time fixing this image, I went through a lot of tutorials specially the great DVD by Godmother. Still, if I fix one part, the other breaks, I don't want any one to do it for me, I just want to know how to "attack" the issues.

Here is a list of the issues I am having...
