  • Images to Paintings

    Hello,
Just recently I have been feeling like getting back into converting some of my images into digital paintings. What software do you use to do this or is PXP X6 with a few painting filters enough to accomplish the task? I have looked at DAP, PS Elements 12 and more but am having difficulty making up my mind. The software that I like would do the painting for me but allow me control over what it looks like as opposed to a canned look from the software's algorithm.
The other day I put some of my images up on Flickr at this addy https://www.flickr.com/photos/44673530@N04/sets/ this will give you an idea of what I shoot and will use for my paintings eventually. Any help you can give me with regards to the software will be most appreciated. Thank you.

I believe I recall who you are Tim. lol

A lot of programs are available to help convert your photos to works of art so the speak. I'll pass the link to the software threads which may help you decide what programs are right for you.

    DAP: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/sof...ming-soon.html
Postwork Shop Pro: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/sof...shop-real.html (of course PwS Pro is at version 3 now)
FotoSketcher (it's free so why not; it's quite good too): http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...eased-win.html

Plenty more utilities exist, but that will have to be part of your own discovery.

Thank you Lyle, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Hopefully something will strike the right chord and then I can get on with this need. For the moment nothing seems to have stirred my interest in a particular software package. Hope springs eternal so I can only hope it is sooner than later...lol. Thank you again.

        Hello,
I am looking for a program that will create photo-art yet allow me to have a good bit of control over how it looks if I want to. I have tried Topaz simplify and wasn't fussy about it, I also tried DAP and liked it but wanted to have more control than what it offers. The auto nature of...

        Fractal software for math morons
        by Doug Nelson
I've played with just about every fractal generating program I've ever heard of. The thing that bothers me about all of them is that they're more about the backend than the front. By that I mean they're math forward, you need to assign a formula, calculate a transform, assign anisotropic levels, etc....

        Photo mosaics
        by rygold
        Hi guys,

I'm trying to find some good pro software for creating photo mosaics for a project. The idea is to use many images say more than five hundred images and place them using a single source photo as a reference. The program needs to be able to recognize the tone and colour of the...
