  • More mask layer questions....ugh

I have PSE2 with Hidden Power. In my layers box I have three layers, a background and two mask layers above it. One mask layer is masking off the island/sky, the other the foreground. I am trying to now apply a curve correction that will just affect one part and do not seem to be able to do it. When I use the Hidden Power to bring up the curve box when I have one of the mask layers as the active layer, the only time I can see any effect from my curve correction is if I do not group it with previous layers, but this affects the whole picture. When I select the mask layer, bring up the curve and group it with previous layers, nothing happens to any part of my picture when I adjust the curve.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or not doing to have my curve correction only affect one part? I do not think I have ever felt this stupid.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Question about layer masks.
    by inskip
I read the tutorials and I understand how to create layer masks. But, where I'm unclear when it comes to LM is how they relate to the other layers and masks. For instance, I have an image that needs to be color corrected, noise reduced and sharpened, therefore, it will probably have adjustment layers...

    Layer Mask
    by MrMarco
I have just downloaded the Hidden Power tools for PS Elements 2.0.

I wanted to learn how to isolate a subject easier than using the background erase tool, which took forever to use! I was told to use the poly lasso and then apply the layer mask to clean up the edges. Well... once I click...

Never quite understood layers and how to use them
    by bobdut
I've used Photoshop for years -now version CS2 and lately Photoshop Elements v.6_Somehow I've never really grasped the basics of Layers. I open the Layers Panel, put in one of the photos I want to work with as a background and then try and add another, then the 1st one disappears. I know it's something...

    locked out of layers

I am working on a pic using layers , I used a mask to create a sky color gradient. I then tried to erase parts of the mask and I can't open up my layers anymore. When I click on a layers it just goes a darker gray, instead of the normal blue color that shows a layer being worked on. also a waring pops...

I've lost a column in my layers palette
    by Canna W
Sorry to be such a pest with idiot questions at the moment!

I think I've lost/deactivated a column in the layer's palette. The column next to the visibility /eye column, the one which shows whether you are working on the layer itself, or on a layers mask.

    I have no idea...
