Have a question... does anyone know how to take a dress for example, that is damaged in a photo and take another dress from a photo online and "superimpose or blend one into another.. Even if to get the "shape" of the dress for rebuilding the damaged one.

I hope I've made myself clear. I don't have any examples to provide, just wondering if and how this could be accomplished
    Thanks for the help

    Dress Replacement

Michelle, there are a number of ways to do this. One option would be to:

    - make a selection of your damaged dress and save it (Select>Save Selection). [Example shown here only of a dress with no background].

    - Find a pattern of another dress or material that will completely cover the damaged dress.

    - Load your selection of the damaged dress. Select the replacement dress or material from its image and do a Edit>Copy. Then with the damaged dress layer active and the selection of the dress active, do a Edit>"Paste Into" which has a shortcut Ctrl+Alt+V.

The new pattern will only fill the selected area.

Thanks for the help. Would this work if I found a photo of a dress online?

The technique will work with any image. However, just to be clear, if you need to overlay the new dress and are trying to get its parts to match the damaged dress , then you might need to use one or more of the transform tools to stretch or shrink certain areas.

            Help with reconstructing dress
            by Michelle K
            Hello everyone,

Here is a dress that I am currently reconstructing. I have selected a shape from another photo and masked it over the damaged photo. I've changed to the blending mode to luminosity so I could see the original underneith.

Now, what would you suggest. Any...

            Extracting sheer dress
            by Pixel_Happy
I'm trying to composite a dancer into a dark street background (see attached) and I'm having trouble with her dress. The bottom of the dress is sheer and through it I am seeing the background of the "donor" shot. To get rid of it I've tried the "Blend If" option but it doesn't seem...

            Restoring the stained dress
            by smcormack
Hello - I'm wondering how any of you would go about restoring this dress. At the moment, I'm only focusing on the dress in the photo. How do you get rid of the large stain? Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to cut out transparent dress
            by petersweden
            Hi

I have a photo of a model in a dress which is semi transparent. She is shot against a white background. What is the best way to isolate the dress?

            Thanks

            pattern fill from selection??
            by Cheryl H
It seems like it should be a simple thing to do, but I can't figure it out. What I'd like to do is create a new layer (empty) and then fill the entire layer (like a pattern fill) with a piece I've selected from another layer--usually a chunk of sky or some other background type thing.
