  • The resource of an artist

For restorations, I would like to suggest the possiblity of hiring an artist who can do photorealistic drawings when body parts are missing. I am sure some of you can create a nose from nothing, but I sure can't. I have done jobs where I have worked with an artist and it is a wonderful resource. We are so used to fixing everything ourselves that I think this resource is often overlooked.

It's an interesting and valid point you make Roger. Whilst not retouching work, I often outsource work that I am not fully equipped or skilled to do. I have also found that in a round about fashion it can bring more work too, by way of referals.

Sometimes I wonder about some of the retouching I see in magazines. There is some really awesome stuff out there. Images that have really had some great thought put into them right from the start. And I mean from the start with the creative director and not the retouching.

      Every image...

Hi everyone, I'm new here, thought I'd post a few questions about the fashion industry since I am totally clueless about how it all works.

I am interested in doing high end retouching and recoloring advertisements (clothing, makeup, perfume/cologne) for fashion magazines. I am interested...

      Digital makeup resources
      by Doug Nelson
I just saw someone recommend the books of Kevyn Aucoin for tips on applying makeup. A quick search on Amazon gave me the gist of his books. They do look interesting, but they're intended for real-world makeup application. Has anyone tried using real-world makeup techniques digitally?
